To the extent anyone cares what Edumnds thinks. Not a bad video. They gave the edge to the Ranger but it was super close.

I'm still struggling with seat comfort in my XLT but I have some seat covers on the way that might help. Not everybody agrees, but to me the new Taco is not great looking - just too angular with weird proportions. But if I can't get my back and arse comfy in the Ranger, I'll be trading in for a Taco.

I just picked up my 2025 Ranger XLT 2.3 two days ago. Coming from a 2013 Tacoma 4.0 V6, I am very happy with the Ford Ecoboost 2.3! I hated the seats in my Tacoma. They felt like they had a hole in the middle, and my butt sank down way too far. The Ranger seats are better in that regard, but I find the side bolsters a bit narrow. The Ranger seat kind of squeezes my butt a little bit too much, but it is way better than the “sitting in a bucket” feeling of my Tacoma seat!
My new Ranger drives and rides so much better than my old Tacoma that it really is breathtaking. The new for 2025 2.3L engine feels extremely powerful and smooth!
I looked at a new 2025 Tacoma before making my decision, but I found the Tacoma interior very plastic-y and almost toy-like. I also did not like the fragile looking exterior vents on the sides of the nose, and the bed seemed not as deep as the Ranger bed.
I am very happy with my purchase, especially given the “Employee pricing” discount of about 10%! I can only hope that my new Ranger proves to be as reliable, or more so than my old Tacoma…

I test drove the Ranger XLT, Lariat and Raptor. The XLT seats reminded me of a rental car. I have owned a number of XZLT in my lifetime and usually find the trim to be mid grade with good seating. But these seats are more for a work truck XL. The Lariat seats were very comfortable. Day and night difference with the XLT. The Raptor seats are comfortable but the bolsters are large. I am a fairly thin guy so the bolsters are over half the depth on my body. They definitely hold in your seat when rounding corners. I went with the Raptor.
You may want to go to an upholstery shop and have them reshape the seats. They can change the foam, add heated seating, upgrade to leather. They can tailor the seat to you.

It’s funny, we have noticed the doors not closing without extra oomph on our RR. I thought we were just getting old! I notice it most on whatever is the last door is that we close, like the air seal in the truck is too tight or something.

My doors eventually shut normally, but my kids ride back there a lot, so they get a lot of use. When it was new, we had to open and re-shut the doors a lot though.

Just my passenger rear door must be shut with some extra push or it will not close all the way.
If a window is open it closes easy.

As the former owner of of a ‘24 Colorado ZR2 (for 7 months), I can truthfully say I have never regretted ditching the ZR2 for a ‘24 Ranger Raptor. The overall quality and the features of the RR is far ahead of the ZR2. Just had the ProCal4 installed and can’t stop smiling!

Seat comfort is a problem. I know why for me anyways. The bottom side bolsters dig into the back of my legs and it causes some pain after long trips. The seat base just isn’t wide enough before the bolsters. Im planning on taking measurements and seeing if I can get an F150 seat or Mustang seat in there as i know long drives with those were comfortable. The back of the seat isn’t an issue.

I also test drove an XLT, Lariat, and Raptor. I ended up going with the Lariat because seat comfort was a big factor. The XLT seats were fine but I had concerns about comfort and support for long trips. Loved the Raptor, but the seats made it feel like a sports car (which is what I’m moving away from as I get older), and my wife hated riding in my Mustang. The Lariat seats were supportive and comfortable with a lot of comfort adjustments. I won’t know if it was the right call until I take a road trip, but I can see these still be in comfortable and supportive 10 years from now.

Definitely didn’t expect the XLT seats to be uncomfortable for long trips. Couldn’t find a lariat to try out. I’ll have to keep an eye out for Lariat seats in a yard maybe lol

I have the same complaint as you with the side bolsters in my XLT. I recently test drove a Lariat just to see if it was better. IMO, that problem is the same - the bolsters are too close together.

My solution was to buy a seat bottom cover and put some towels under it. The towels are only as wide as the space between the bolsters so they fill that hole. It’s not perfect but much better than before.

Ah good to know. Realistically I’m hoping to find some old Mustang seats or F150 seats to swap in. I don’t have power so as long as i can swap the rails I think I’ll be good. May need to do some rewiring but I’m an electrician

The door seal moldings and cab are air tight on my Ranger. That might explain why when you shut your door it would take a little extra effort to close them when your windows are in the up position. However I really don't seem to have a problem with it. For me the head rests were perfect when I was driving slightly tied and my head was in the perfect position up against the rest to drive not too lean back where I was looking up to the sky. Other then that I can't see how the head rests would even get the way unless you really have a huge head. Both issues are so small they wouldn't be deal Breakers for most individuals.

I have done 950 miles road trips, doing that mileage in a single 15 hour go. The Lariat seats, due to bolstering and the built in adjust-ability are very good after 15 hours. No worries here!
