Transport Canada says they will inspect the sunvisor/map light wiring, replace if needed and update the bcm. weird the amerian just says update.

I got mine today too. Again, how can a software update fix a pinched and grounded/shorted wire?🙄🤣

I dropped my headliner to do the roof insulation. I found no pinched wires, so not too worried about it.

Think the reverse. Yes a short in a Body Wire can affect the Control Body Module. Fluctuating current, voltage and electrical spikes can damage or disrupt programming of the BCM

I intend to sit this one out. This is recall #5, and maybe I’ll do it with recalls #8-9 … or maybe not. Obviously all manufacturers are having recalls (and I would take mine vs the 880k GM 6.2L V8, 225k Toyota 3.4L V6, or 300k Honda 3.5L V6 recalls, which are engine failures), but as a consumer facing recalls over and over, it makes sense to use the batch fix approach.

apparently the bcm can detect the short circuits and the softwsre change is after so many have occurred it will shut off the circuit.

i imagine when the wires begin to short it is intermittent, perhaps not long enough to blow a fuwe but still detectable by the bcm

My recall list keeps growing - when I decide to take it in they are going to need the truck for a week. Also, when I took delivery a day later the brake controller module recall hit, that I had done via a mobile visit. That makes 5 recalls for me so far.

I was also wondering how a software update repairs hardware. Got my notice yesterday.

Update…..called my Ford dealer to schedule the recall for the front seat height adjust pivot bolt that appeared on my app today. They also said that
Ford has a software fix for the potential pinched wire that is referenced in this post. Said it will take about 2 hours to do both.

How can a software "fix" - fix a pinched wire?

by lowering the voltage through that wire.
But I would think that they'd have to replace the wire, myself.
