If the factory crank case ventilation system is working properly and you are using the correct oil, changing it at the proper intervals, and using high quality gasoline. A catch can is absolutely not necessary!!!

This has been proven over and over again on the DI only 2.3 engine and on the 3.0 in the Explorer ST.

I believe the study used an eco boost 2.3L with DI only and did show the benefit of detergents. Maybe the detergents are getting there via the EGR system or possibly there is valve overlap and the intake valves are not completely shut when the fuel is injected. Just hypothetically thinking here

Ford uses variable cam timing (called Ti-VCT) to help reduce NOx, so EGR system is not needed. Without EGR, valve deposits can be reduced, but yet still will be present.

So no one has 100 per cent sure if the 3.0 v6 ecoboost is direct injection only or dual injection?
No one has photos from engine, or diagram?
No one checked the engine to see?

Wiring diagrams I previously posted on suggest it is direct injection only.

It is direct injection only. How do I know? I went out to my garage and looked under the hood.

10 years from now we're still going to be talking about this.
Can you have some detailed photos?

There are some photos floating around on here taken with a bore scope so everyone can count the injectors. Also anyone that goes to the Raptor assault course can poke there head around the back of the exposed engine on display and see there is no port injection.
Ford needs to fix their typo!

It's a typo that has kited around the internet. Been proven out to be a typo by both service data and direct owners inspection.
I would like to see photos because this is a downgrade ford made from the 2.7 engine and the 3.5.
I had the idea that the 3.0 exoboost would be a reliable work horse. . And missing Port injection, probably Will make it a low reliability engine.

Are there know cases of carbon built up?

Iam a bit speechless having in consideration this engine is in production since 2016 and there is not an exploded diagram of the engine, and other information based on technical information. .also engine revisions etc 😱
