The battle continues and the main reason I'm posting this is MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERY OPTION YOU WANT FIRST FROM THE DEALER.
Agreed! I had similar issue, but not as bad as yours. I just wanted the brake controller and since my order with advanced tow pkg was delayed so much, I got one off the lot that did not have this package assuming I could add it on later. Then to find out no controller available (yet). There are after market options, but I incorrectly assumed that something this simple (for a 7500 tow capacity truck) would not be available.... Get the options you want from Factory is the best choice.

Hi all! What brought me here was a search for what folks were doing to add the rear integrated step option to their 2024 Ranger. As I was a parts manager at my dealership, (am now in sales), I decided to do a bit of research and clear up some of the misinformation here.

My references are my own VIN (Lariat, 2.7L, without step) and another Lariat in our inventory equipped with step.

Findings:

-Both trucks have the same box and tailgate assembly (N1WZ2600038W), thus alleviating any worries about cutting anything..

See attached pdf for a deatiled list. You may or may not need all the hardware, but the illustration and detailed list of part numbers and quantities should prove helpful. Good luck and of you have additional questions, don't hesitate!

Not sure if you have figured out a solution, but at our Ford dealership, we had issues with the 2024 Bronco, and 2024 F150 (addressed via a TSB), not listing an accessory kit, to add the trailer brake. We determined that by adding the switch and the module (wiring already in place to add), that you install the parts, program, via the FDRS( Ford Diagnostic & Repair System ), and all works as it should. The two parts you would need are ML3Z14529AC (dash switch), and ML3Z19H332K (module). This is untested on Ranger at our dealership, but if you'd like me to dig further with our accessory specialist, who I'm still in contact with, I can check and see if any dealers in our region has tried this. Let me know.

If anybody gets the dealer to install the box step, please post your total cost for install.

This is awesome info. I take my truck in for oil change next week so am going to have them look into this for me. Exactly the solution that I am hopeful for.

Quick question - for this on the Bronco, do one of those parts come with the cable that connects the dash switch to the module? I looked behind the dash and where the switch would go there is no wiring that I can see, but there is wiring and connector on the left side of the wheel closer to the firewall that was determined in another thread to be related to the TBC, but that is about 3ft away from where the switch would get installed.

Please see attached photos. The exploded view, shows the harness that contains the connector, and there's a photo of the plug and it's location. We did a few 2024 Broncos. In cact, the Bronco without a hitch, is prewired to the back bumper for a 7 pin. Add bracket and 7 pin at the rear, TRM, dash switch and program, and voila, you have the trailer brake option. Do you perchance have your vin available?

Nice write up!
You know, it's not critical. I used my calibrated bicep. I'd say I'm around 40. 100- YIKES! That's into sheet metal. Had to be a pain to get out.

Let me also say, you don't have to remove or even disassemble that bumper. You just need to loosen the far side and remove and support the side your working on, You don't need much to get the body panel out. Just my opinion, i did it that way, Save alot of work. thank you for creating this thread, and sourcing the parts!
I am planning on doing this job this weekend. Just to be clear, you removed these 3 bolts on one side after marking the location and supporting the bumper and loosened the 3 on the other side?

That's correct. Mark the location on the bracket v frame for alignment on reinstall, forward-back and side to side, both sides. Just lossened the opposite side from where i was working, and removed all 3 bolts from the side i was installing on. Supported the removed/working side with a rapid jack and i think i had to add one or 2 pieces of 4x4 for reach. Worked out extreemly well.

Lots of progress today! I figure I am about 80% done after about 5.5 hours. Unfortunately I was getting ready to put the last bolt in and one of the metal clips I moved from the factory piece to the aftermarket piece broke. I have to pull the plastic trim back off and replace the clip. I have to button up the wheel lip mouldings and tighten up the bumper and a couple other things. The loosen /don’t remove the bumper and the 8mm socket to get the clips from the back recommendations are money.

Couple more hours today and I am done!!! I broke the clip retainer on the wheel molding, my kid is a master body tech and he says they epoxy them all the time so one day this week I’ll stop by after work and get that done.

As far as the steps themselves, I am about 95% pleased with them. They bolted up and fit really well except for a small gap at the top of the passenger side. May be able to adjust that out. Interestingly, on that side there is one less clip at the top than the driver side and the panel I took off the truck.
My wife came out to see them, and her response was, “I don’t think I could get up in them”. I said, “not sure I can either”. (We both are going to hit 70 this year.) She said, “well, they look cool anyway”.
Then she said, “are they going to have lights in them?”
Hmmmm. It would be real easy to tie into my bed light circuit.

What is the purpose of this? I’m asking after looking, but doesn’t seem to need to be done. I’m getting prepped to install mine.
