I am on the fence with this exhaust. It kind of sounds good, I liked it when I bought it. In Baja mode with a tune it does sound rowdy in a good way.I have thought of getting axle backs to deepen the tone, but I do not want it louder. From all reading I've done on this, there are a ton of owners who don't like the tone, and also a lot who wish quiet mode actually was quiet. Lots who want a better tone but louder as well....
If I were going to change anything, I would probably do the trombone pipe in the front, and replace the rear resonators with larger ones.
The best way to get what I really want would be the trombone, and add a quiet resonator to the out pipe that doesn't have a valve. But there's no room to do it. That would make all modes sound "better" but quiet mode would be much quieter.
Unrelated to the OP or noise I was wondering if there is a penalty for this in relationship to MPH or HP/Torque?Those vibrsnt resonators are awrsome at quieting down exhaust and cutting drone
Favorite story of the weekend!Buy a Tesla...????
All joking aside, here is a funny exhaust story.
I was diving my GT350 with the distinct and loud Flat-Plane crank exhaust when I pulled up next to a Tesla Model S Dual Motor at a light. I looked over at the Tesla and his windows were up and very tinted. My windows were down because the Shelby exhaust was outside.
The light turned green and he floored it... he was gone! I didn't even try because I would just be wasting fuel.
We got to the next light, and I pulled up next to him and looked over. He rolled down the window and said, "I'm surprised you didn't give it a go back there?"
I replied in jest with, "Look buddy, I could tell by your after-market exhaust that that thing has been heavily modified." I thought it was funny.
He gives me a look and says, "F$#k You!"
That Tesla driver had ZERO sense of humor for sure...!!!!!
I always wanted a riding mower when I was a kid...You can absolutely have a quiet exhaust system. You'll need to lose the active muffler and get old school quiet mufflers. They do still exist. Maybe even replace the tiny useless resonators with something better but that probably won't be necessary. Any good muffler shop can handle that.
To those that say he bought the wrong truck - f*** off a**holes! You're unhelpful and just plain wrong.
I bought the RR for it's suspension first, it's engine second. I wanted a RR, if not for that model I have no use for a Ranger, I have a full size truck that does truck stuff. I might have wanted an extended cab longer bed Ranger, but Ford dropped that model. The 4dr teenie bed isn't something I need. I do love the RR though, it's just plain fun and I have no regrets. But...
That exhaust note sucks, it sounds like a riding lawnmower. I've owned v6s that sound great, this does not.
When I was about 12 my dad came home from work and caught me running up and down the road on the riding lawnmower. I had removed the mower deck, and found a gear in the shop that changed the drive ratio to make it faster (chain drive to rear axle) and replaced the rear sprocket.I always wanted a riding mower when I was a kid...
LOL! I did the same thing, but shimmed the engine up about 3/4" so the much larger mower blade pulley was lined up with the transmission. Transmission only had drive, neutral and reverse. With the throttle way up I dropped it in gear. Should have pulled it out of the garage and pointed it in a safe direction first! Those rubber tires with acorn treads make for an extremely smoky burnout as they start to grab! I panicked and attempted to drop the transmission into neutral, passing it and hitting reverse! Finally found neutral and assessed the damage. Thankfully the only damage was a couple galvanized trash cans and a thick, black "V" of rubber on the garage floor! When I was about 12 my dad came home from work and caught me running up and down the road on the riding lawnmower. I had removed the mower deck, and found a gear in the shop that changed the drive ratio to make it faster (chain drive to rear axle) and replaced the rear sprocket.
I didn't get dinner until I had it all back together and working...
Usually rxhaust changes move the peak torque and hp up or down the rpm range a littleUnrelated to the OP or noise I was wondering if there is a penalty for this in relationship to MPH or HP/Torque?
From the measurements I've taken, there is a 1" gap between the 2 pipes before the muffler. There is only about 10 inches of straight pipe to work on each side with the the hangers. It looks like the only one i can find that could possibly fit is theUpdate: I finished installing sound mat in the rear wall, rear floor, AND Roof this weekend. I had already put material on the door previously.
HUGE difference.
I'm not saying this is the solution I'm looking for just yet, but everything sounds like it's one or more modes more quiet. i.e normal sounds like the old quiet in the cab. Quiet is quiet enough that i can here my turbo which is very welcome.
I used Silas Max which is 120mil i believe. I didn't put a second layer of any kind.
Btw, doing the roof, back wall, and rear floor was a full day project to tear it apart, line it, and reinstall everything while rerunning some dash cam cords. Doing the doors was another full day project to get all 4 of them done. And your shoulders will burn from rolling the stuff at weird angles. I'm sure it can be done much quicker than that, but i worked slow and methodical and took breaks to eat and not rush anything.
I think a big part of my issue was the cab is so thin and flimsy that it was acting like a resonator of it's own.
I am still considering the ultraquiet resonators before the muffler at some point.
The guy that said "" you should have went with a 4 banger(should have 'gone')with a 4 banger, or electric, gave a harsh response. I just got my RR 10 days ago, and I understand your message. I didn't do the undercoating because it so clean and awesome underneath. I think insulation will fix the issue. Best of luck, CWDef a strange topic. If you want silence, you should have went with 4 cylinder or electric truck. I get it though, raptor is awesome. Good luck finding a solution.
