For those of you have a 2024 Ranger missing the updated bed frame support, I got some good news today. I brought my Ranger in for an oil change and asked them to check the bed frame support while the truck was on the lift. When the truck was ready, a service tech told me my truck "failed" the bed support check and they were ordering the parts. It would be fixed free of charge because of the recall. NOW, I was surprised there was a recall because I checked two weeks ago for any recalls using my vin# and Ford said there were no recalls on my truck. So it might be worth a visit to your dealer and have them check. I have a feeling Ford is hoping owners don't bother to check.

I just got mine done today. It was covered under warranty. Also the customer service rep I talked to a few weeks ago said The “recall” ends7/31/25.

I just checked my vin# again for recalls and Ford says there are no recalls for my Ranger. When I saw the links posted by Stock I checked both and my Vin# shows 0 recalls for my Ranger. Plus, if there was a recall, why didn't Ford notify me? And if there is an ending date for a recall and owners of affected vehicles aren't notified that is pure BS. I am beginning to think that Ford hopes owners aren't aware of this issue and/or don't have dealers check. That way they are off the hook for repairs.
Trent_G how did you become aware that there was a recall for your Ranger?

I was in for a sensor issue and I asked them check it at that time. I think it totally depends on the dealer. I tried to make an appointment at a different dealer and they said they would not do it as a recall unless I bought an aftermarket accessory from them such as a canopy or bed cover. Complete BS…..

How do I check if I’m missing these supports? I have a 24 ranger xlt with a 11/14/24 date on the sticker.

Thanks.

I just checked in the Ford app under make service appointment with my dealer. There is a load box reinforcement kit installation listed under the recall and campaigns tab. It says $0.00. I just booked an appointment online with the dealer for this. I set it for August 9th. Hopefully it will get done, or I guess I'll get a call saying yes or no. Fingers crossed.

Took my 2024 Ranger in for 15K service. Quick Lane personnel informed me there was a recall notice for my vehicle. They noted it on the service report and told me to talk to a service rep.

The service rep looked it up and told me it would only be covered if I was to install a camper shell.

I do have the tri-fold hard cover on the bed, but that doesn’t count. :(

I just changed my appointment to July 26th. I just noticed Trent say service reptold him it ends July 31st. Hopefully I'll get it installed without having a topper.

Thanks

I got a message from Ford saying that my truck was eligible for load support, i.e. j-braces several months ago. I contacted the local dealer and eventually found out that they would only do the J-Braces for free if you purchased and installed a Ford Topper. I already have a trifold hard tonneau on my truck and do not want a topper. Also, as I told the dealership, I planned to carry a heavy canoe on my truck using bedside rack supports in off-road situations up here in Maine. Since the canoe weighs 120 pounds this would exceed the Ford limit of 88 pounds, not to mention the additional weight of my tonneau cover--another ~70 pounds. All this did not make a difference with the dealer. So, I decided to call Ford Corporate and see what they had to say. They basically referred the issue back to the dealer and sort of went along with the Ford topper policy.

Ultimately, I was able to negotiate a somewhat better rate for having j-braces installed (without topper) than I otherwise would have gotten from the dealer. But, I think that this is totally up to the discretion of the dealer.

Goober71, Ranger43931 posted pictures of the old support vs the updated support so you can do a visual check.
