ProCal Tune - do we need to check for updates?

Mechanic installed a new ProCal under warranty. Took 45 minutes. This one is registered to me and everything’s running great. Just remember do not plug in or unplug the ProCal unless the truck is completely shut off. Do change any thing unless a minimum 20 amp battery charger is hooked up.

Yeah, i read how you have to register so i figured i would let them play with it for a while. I let them have it for an extra day and am going ti head over today to see what the outcome is

ok, ford performance reset my procal and its i my name now. i just updated and verified the tune and the stock tune are still on it working

Ford Performance sells a tuner box call the ProCal. You can buy it directly from Ford, or from many places online. The box is used for many Ford vehicles, but you buy one specific to your vehicle. Inside the box is a code that will allow you to download the tune for the specific vehicle you bought for. It involves creating an account, and installing a the ProCal software on your computer.

Once downloaded it links that performance tune file to your vehicle's VIN, so you can't just give the .bin file to anyone.

If your ford dealer installs it then yes covered under warranty. If you install the tune then that could give them a possible out. Google Ford Performance and look at their website and it will tell you a lot. Will add about 50hp. Dealer will charge about $200 to install but if you want to install it, it is very easy. Be sure and follow directions carefully, especially with a proper battery charger. It’s a great tune for what it cost. Go for it, I did.

Here it is a Levittown, but if you are going to have your dealer do it, you may have to buy it from them.

It doesn't have to be a Ford dealer. Note that it says:

I bought mine from Tire Rack, they had it at a much lower price than Ford or many other places. I did the whole registration part myself then took it to a dealer to literally just hit a few buttons to start the tuning process. I was at the dealer for maybe 15 minutes and most of that was letting the tune load.

One of the biggest benefits of the Ford Performance tune is the shifting in Sport mode. Smooths it out significantly.
