Ranger to be discontinued - is this BS?

There a few things that i feel that ford might be keeping the Ranger. My main argument is that they would've discontinued it right before the refresh if they didn't want it, but they didn't. But again more than likely Ford also wanted to keep it in the segment due to all the planned refreshes for all the other midsize pickups. Ford does build more Broncos than rangers because of its very high initial demand and kept it that way and that is one of the reasons for the low sale numbers. My local ford dealer does NOT have a single new ranger on the lot which means that they are selling and heck i see at least a few a day around town. Ford is starting to include the ranger in some promotional things, but not many. Most of the Ford ads I see are from dealer networks (which have pretty clear biases on what they want to sell) and not direct. I love my 2019 ranger and would love to get a 6th gen but i cant afford it.

It's not going away but it will evolve into something even better. I love my Ranger and would cry like a baby if it were to disappear from North America. I'm very confident about the Ranger's future.

Most salespeople are far from experts on the products they're selling. Especially in the auto industry.

Yes, and what they are experts on is ways to screw the customer ether in the deal or info or features about the vehicle, they tell you.
That's why you have to be smarter then them about the vehicle your buying.

Saw a video on the new Bronco Filson, seems to be just same Bronco with Leather, carpet, and badging. Standard with Sasquatch package and V6. No idea what the price is, but I bet it’s not worth it, IMHO. Kinda just reminds me of the old Eddie Bauer Editions.

It’s basically a loaded Sasquatch. Except it has the 3.0 motor from the Raptor and it’s the only Bronco that has ventilated seats. So it is definitely a special edition.

Also, I wanted to point out that Ford doesn't need the Ranger to be a massive seller in the NA to keep it in production and remain profitable. There are many parts shared with the T6 based Bronco's, but don't forget that the Ranger is their global truck platform, it's a big seller in Australia, is also sold in South America, Southeast Asia regions as well as Africa where it's considered a full-sized truck and major competitor to Toyota.

So, there's considerable volume / mass production of common parts and production / distribution globally, it's not exactly new to be sourcing parts OCONUS....I think if the Ranger were only sold in NA, it would be an issue from sale numbers alone as production would be far more limited.

But when you tie in the parts that are common with the T6 bronco (major powertrain components like the 10R60, 2.3L, 2.7L and 3.0L in both Raptors), the Ranger's existence, even with lower sales numbers makes far more sense because it's piggybacking off of the Bronco mass production and also the global Ranger production. It all works together to make a profitable platform even if regional sales are lower in NA than some of its cousins.

I'm actually a bit skeptical as to what the Bronco Truck would actually bring to the table over the Ranger....the Ranger is designed as a mid-sized light duty work truck, the Bronco's are designed as SUV's more focused on off-roading and daily driving than work applications.

So now you stretch out the Bronco chassis for a pickup bed (aka like the Jeep Gladiator), give it removable doors and top, it's a mix between the two. Now that isn't a bad idea, but it's niche. Off-roading work-trucks is kinda of a not so common thing, even if cool.

Most pickups sold are for practical uses, travel, family, work etc. Not so much leisure. The only thing I can think of is Ford is going after the Gladiator market, but I don't see nearly as many Gladiators as I do Wranglers and 2-door's, but I guess if it shares 90% same components, they can get away with low volume, high price to off-set that.

I do think that would be cool. But then again, why not just make a Ranger with removable doors...most people seem to take the doors off jeeps but often leave the tops on so they don't fry in the sun. Now that might be cool!

That's literally a marketing test for the upmarket Lincoln Bronco, to see if people will spend big money on a Ford G-wagon. I could see this opening the doors for the Everest if it sells well, as that's a natural competitor for the GX (Prado), GLE, and Discovery - the family haulers. But the latter it's wishful thinking on my part.

Market the dang Ranger Ford US - add a tremor add some other variants add features (like rear vents and vented seats etc.) - lean into it not away from it. I don't get it. Is it to protect the F150 sales? Is there some other reason I'm not understanding lol

I dont know if the Bronco is the big seller Ford wanted it to be. When I visit my ford dealer ,they always have Broncos sitting on the lot for months, the same ones all summer long. It seems like no one is buying them this summer? Perhaps the prices are too high. I know interest rates still suk

The Broncos were big sellers at first but for a certain type of customer. They are not really everyday comfortable vehicles to drive.
Those certain customers get theirs within the first year now sales have slowed.

Went to my Ford dealer a few days ago to look at the Bronco Sport Badlands. While there I asked the salesman if we could look at the Ranger Lariats.

They only had 8 on the lot, and 4 of those were 2025 models. Seems strange that they sill have 2025s. None of the Lariats were configured the way I want so I didn't spend much time looking at them.

Then the salesman said something that surprised me. He said he's "pretty sure" the Ranger is
being discontinued. No Ranger for 2027. He said the Fathom and Bronco truck are the main reasons.

So I don't know what to make of this. Just a BS story in hopes of prompting me into buying a Ranger now?

With the dystopian tech being installed in the vehicles scheduled for 2027 I.m not sure I'll purchase anything that has it anyways.
