What are you towing with your 6th Gen Ranger?

Just wondering what ppl have towed with there Ranger so far.
Buying a Travel travel so wondering about your experiences.
Gross weight, tongue weight and length of you trailers.
What WDH are you using?

In case you have not seen this guide, be aware that trailer frontal area is very important with these compact trucks. You should tell us which Ranger you have, and which towing package.

Since you live where there are steep mountains, always err on the side of caution when picking a trailer, for example no more than 80% of your rated max trailer weight (with the trailer fully stocked and loaded). Unfortunately most people buy the truck and then look for the trailer, this can cause big problems, because they end up pushing the safety margin too far, or exceeding it entirely.

I bought the XLT with the advanced trailer tow package since I new i would be getting a trailer.
4 of us.

A tiny off road “square drop” camp trailer. Only about 1500 pounds or so, maybe a bit more when fully loaded. I’ve taken it on some moderately challenging 4x4 roads.

my V6 diesel tows easily anywhere (including steep mountain) my trailer loaded with my tractor. total trailer + load is 7700lbs (which is the max weight you can tow in EU with a car, beyond that, you need a real truck). while you can tow 7700lbs, the total weight of trailer + truck cannot exceed 14500lb though (potentially you can drive car+trailer up to 15500lbs here) so I cannot really use the max load of the ranger when towing, but only half of it, about 1300lbs

I have an XLT with the (non-advanced)tow package that does NOT COME with the TBC INCLUDED. I have to wait for an aftermarket controller before towing anything over 1600 lbs.

I'm in the market for a TT as well. Right now we're looking at either a T@B 400, Intech Sol Horizon, Escape 19, Casita, Cortes or Airstream Bambi.

Sucks that prices are outrageous for anything that will last longer than ~10 years.

What WDH are you using?

I tow a 2015 1706FB Micro Minnie Winnie, 3000lbs dry. I used to tow with a 2015 Buick enclave fwd v6 but it struggled thru the WV mountains. I’m using the same WDH, a camco EAZ-lift Elite. I towed without the WD bars and without the sway control arm to see how the included sway control worked. It worked ok but I’ve found with WD bars and the sway arm feel more solid and responsive. I do love the tow mode activated side mirror cameras. I have not calibrated the backup assist controls because I feel comfortable backing up without it.
Regarding fuel economy, the Buick got 10 mpg towing. The Ranger gets 14 mpg.

I'll be receiving my XLT with 2.7L V6 and advanced towing package next week.
I ordered the V6 specifically as I tow quite a bit.

Alway refer to the Ford towing guide, as there is more to it than just weight capacity. The frontal area is almost as important.

It worked fine.
