Hey guys, any of you out there know how high up the frame is on our new Rangers? I have one on order, so don't have it yet, but trying to plan ahead.

I currently have a 2 Ton Floor Jack with a max lift height of 17". Technically, I could use it safely for the Ranger - our trucks weigh around 4500 lbs give or take, and rule of thumb is your jack should be rated to no less than 3/4 of the weight. So, doing the math, that means a 2 ton jack could lift well over 5300 lbs safely.

Anyway, I'm more concerned about the lift height at 17". Looks like 3 ton floor jacks I am looking at only creep up a hair more, with a max height of 19".

I like to lift from the frame, so curious what the frame height is, and also curious what you guys are using to jack your trucks up?

Thanks all!

You could always put a 4x4 block of wood on it and you not lifting the whole truck so not max weight being lifted so 2 ton should be fine.

Thanks for the response! I know I could do that but I hate messing around with spacers between a jack and vehicle. If the 2 ton is too short, I'll sell it and pony up for a 3 ton but just wanted to see what you guys were using before doing that

I use a harbor freight floor jack. I think its a 3 ton but its one of those extra low ones for sports cars. I just use 4x4 blocks so i am not messing up the paint or sealant on the frame.

For floor jacks I put it under the drive shaft directly under the spring perches, much less travel before the lift starts. I know they say you shouldn't pick it up from the axle tube but when placed under the perches it does no harm. been doing it this way for the 45 years with no issue.

HF Daytona 3 ton Long Reach. Works like a champ! Zero strain.
Honestly my favorite way to work uunder the truck is to completely drive it up on 4 x 12 ton ramps. Gets the entire truck 6 1/2” higher and level. Makes crawling around underneath it a breeze. I just use the jack & stands to work on a corner or remove a wheel or wheels for a rotate. Just another option.

Harbor freight 3 ton jack works fine. I tried my quick jack but the frame is a bit weird so I couldn’t get a good set up on it. I tried my 1.5, and 2 ton. Neither reached. Lol.

What model of quick jack do you have? I was about to buy one specifically for the Ranger and I'd be totally bummed if it doesn't work.
