It’s because they can have their business buy the truck and it helps with taxes. Some business slap big vinyls all over the side and it makes for a marketing play. But mostly it’s because it’s the only way they could get permission from their wife!
Okay, I have to admit that is funny and probably has some truth to it based on "personal wife experience."

Awesome. I guess report back here when you find out. So many have changed that it seems like the thing that needs to happen.
so my dealer did speak with her zone manager and she did change it to retail. Got my email yesterday afternoon

Be nice to know why ford asked for this change. But at least our trucks are changed and hopefully they don’t need to be moved back to stock again.

I paid 2k over for the dealer allocation. And got one of those Ford emails and a P&S and build sheet for what it's worth.

So not if mine is stock or retail? Haha

I’m wondering if this change may also bring original stock allocation people back into the $1,000 retail discount that we were going to miss out on? Who knows it’s a shit show.
My dealer just checked into this and said the $1,000 preorder discount would not apply to Raptor even though we're now retail orders. If anyone else can confirm that would be much appreciated!

He also didn't confirm whether this discount actually exists, or if that CarsDirect article was just blowing smoke. I haven't seen any official mention of this discount from Ford so I'm starting to wonder if we've been fibbed.

This is exactly what I'm saying. The Ranger looks are just "okay", but the Raptor looks amazing. If they made the Ranger look a little more sporty like the Raptor, they'd have way more than $2k orders in the US.

Both GM twins and Tacoma managed to make their lower trims look really good while not having the bells and whistles of the upper trims. For some reason, Ford thought it was a good idea to make their lower trims look like a completely different model than the Raptor.
IMO, the established base of previous Ranger buyers (and those considering 6G against other mid-size) do NOT want something that looks like a factory sponsored desert pre-runner- and don't want to pay a ridiculous premium for such looks. I'd wager 90% of potential buyers want it for functionality, value and best price point and never even consider an aggressive looking daily driver. Pretty much the opposite of what we are seeing in this tiny fragment of all potential buyers represented here.

I'd agree.. I don't really have an interest in the Raptor (granted, that's partially because it's so expensive).. I'm willing to be the low number of preorders for regular Rangers, is probably more tied to the 2.7 not being available yet.. as there's probably some pent up demand for that engine..

I also haven't ordered yet.. and am torn between what I want to order.

For what it is worth .. My dealer just said (after I asked him to please check on whether he needs to change order status again) that it was confirmed by Ford that every dealer will get 1 RR unit and only 1 unit out of first production as long as they have 1 on order (regardless of stock or retail). He said if they have multiple orders they may need to prioritize (to see which order gets the 1 allocation) and retail may take priority.. but since he only has 1 (mine) order in and will not order any more until mine is confirmed with a vin and build date I will get it. Not saying this to say this is a fact or he is right or wrong, but I do trust him and believe him as it make sense (at least to me )..

According to the Cars Direct article you referred too it reads in part: "Based on dealer incentive bulletins, the 2024 Ranger will launch with no other rebates. The $1,000 Ranger discount is available whether you buy or lease, and could give shoppers a good reason to sit tight and wait for their truck to come in. Interestingly, the 2024 Ranger incentive doesn't specifically exclude the all-new Ranger Raptor. "

HOWEVER...A few things on this, as your question is a good one. In going through several Ford dealership web sites, the so-called "Ford Retail Order Bonus Cash Certificate (#32028)" only mentions model years 2023, and must take delivery by 10-02-2023.

How's that going to happen for a MY2024 scheduled to be built in August or September 2024? (depending on what source you wish to believe). My dealership could not find an updated bulletin for MY2024 either for this discount on their order screen, and having the sales manager check as well.

It appears for now, the Cars Direct article is incorrect until I see an actual updated bulletin for MY 2024, or a member of this forum would be kind enough to show us differently.

Since this a new redesign, I don't see an updated MY2024 incentive coming down the line. So, in my opinion, at least for now, the Cars Direct article is incorrect until I see an actual updated bulletin for MY 2024, or a member of this forum would be kind enough to show us differently.

Jeez I hope I not going to have yo wait until Aug/Sept 2024 for MY24 to be built, that would almost make it a MY25. That means over 14-15 month wait.

Thats what I have read from the posts on this forum for Job-1 production to begin for MY24. I "THINK" it was originally September, 23 then August 7th, 23 now August 14th, 23 for Job-1 production to begin on the MY24. You can look it up for yourself in the "News" section of this forum. Production certainly is not under way now. Ford scheduling for MY24 has not even started! Scheduling seems to be holding firm for July 20th, 23. I was told by my particualr dealer, I'm the first retail order on an XLT, he expects a 4-month order-to-delivery time. Seems optimistic from my point of view, but we are friends as well, so I have no reason not to believe him. I'm just waiting for the inevitable "constraint/supply issues" to crop up! Unless you have some super high tech, lot's of "extra goodies" order, the general consensus I get from most dealers is all over the board and ranges from 4-6-8 months (but not 14-15 months). This is is not including RR's as I'm getting an XLT and have never asked about the RR. Unless we go through something similar to the "the original Maverick launch debacle" I highly doubt you would be waiting that long. Let's just see how it goes with scheduling and then we can hopefully get some firmer delivery facts. :)

My order manager was out of the office today, but I got his e-mail and sent a message off to him. I'll update (hopefully tomorrow) with his response;

I got a VM back from my order manager (I was dead asleep, work 6A-6P shift). I also have my order email directly from Ford now where it was moved to retail. What I really wanted to know is if he could find out info as to WHY Ford is doing this but he came up empty handed.

Wish Ford would satisfy my itch of curiosity.

I just noticed that you put 2024 on your posts and not 2023 so thats what would make it the 14-15 months. I think you meant Aug/Sept 2023. I ordered mine mid June and expect it 1st quarter 2024.

Be nice to know why ford asked for this change. But at least our trucks are changed and hopefully they don’t need to be moved back to stock again.
I guess I don’t really care why the change. It’s probably for the better since price should be locked and get automatic updates when the status changes. All I care is that my truck gets here before I put too many more miles on my current one.
