Has anyone tried one of the dash cams that replaces the trim piece above the mirror with one with a built in camera?
It is for the Euro market with the power already above the mirror but I assume it could just be tapped as done on other threads.

I would think the image would be bouncing a lot. If you have ever taken that plastic piece off before you know how loose it clips in and moves around.

Interestingly, ALL of the reviews for this item were a "Customer Review of Free Product".

Here's something to consider and just because it says 4K, doesn't mean it's any good at doing the job it was intended for. Project Farm on YouTube does extensive tests on a variety of things, one of them being dash cams... and you'd be surprised at the clarity issues with most cameras, even some high dollar units...

Have you been offroad with it?
I have not been heavy baja mode rally with it yet, but I would probably use an action camera then, just like I do with my RS on the track and not rely on a dash cam. I have the dash cam for the other drivers here in the PNW. Slow rock crawl and dirt/rock road stuff it has been fine.

Just snaps in, loose. Any sall bumps or overload riding and the video will be iseless.
My factory mirror mount/camera cover is not loose one bit. Are you suggesting the dash cam units don't snap in tightly?

I put the FitCam X 4430 in my 2025 Lariat. It went in very easily, though I did need to carefully use a heat gun to get the unit to fit without any gaps to the headliner. The unit works great and it looks perfect! I highly recommend, and I did not receive a free unit for evaluation. I think I paid $180 for it.

I'm happy with mine. The best part is you don't have to do anything like remove it and hide it when parking. The only thing you have to remember is to format the card once in awhile. The video is not shaky at all and the trim fits tightly.

I added a small red bump dot to the button you press to lock a video since I can never remember which button it is.

Mine is the fitcamX brand, can't speak for the one that was linked in the OP.

The new 4430 version fits the Ranger Raptor perfectly. Easy setup and video is great front and rear. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GY474F52?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
Hey, how does the rear facing camera work for you? I currently have the Wolfbox G9000. The front mirror camera is great but I am using the "In Cabin" camera secured to my back window and using as my rear view mirror view. The problem is that when it's really dark out at night or even on a dark rainy day, the view blacks out, comes back, blacks out, comes, back, etc....on that in cabin camera. I even cut a small piece of my window tint out and it still does it.

The camera in the product you recommended looks exactly the same as the Wolfbox In Cabin camera. Hows it working for you at night or in the rain?

Thanks!!!!

Mine looks through tint as well, but I haven't seen it black out at night. I will have to check rain. I installed it in June, and the rain season just started, but I'll check.
