Yeah, same…wouldn’t mind a bit more tutorial…I didn’t get a chance to look to hard at it today, but, if I have I correct, to get the 4 switch panel off the arm rest, I just lift cover off with some kind of trim tool, or flat screw driver, taking care to slide the whole assembly forward off a rear clip, then unscrew a few small torx screws that will apparently reveal themselves - then chop the noted plastic stops off the rear rocker switches, then as the Haynes and Chilton manuals used to say “replacement is reverse of removal”

do I have that right?? Maybe I’ll try it tomorrow…(if I do I’ll try to document it for other scared-y-cats!😂)
It’s super simple. From start to finish took me maybe 20min. I used a small round file and filed down the little tabs.

Thank you @Gman10 ! Think I'll give this a shot once I get all of my other things installed first :)

Yes, it makes rear windows auto up and down just like the front ones. The switchs will have the detents like the front ones and when you push it passed the detent they will go all the way up or down just like with the front ones. The tabs you cut off are just there to prevent the switch from going far enough to get to the auto up/down part. It’s really simple to take the switch bank out, you just pry up from the back with a trim tool to get the switch bank to separate from the door card. Once it pops up just pry the rest of the clips up until it detaches. When it does unplug it by pushing the little tab on the connector inward. After that unscrew the 3 torx bolts and the faceplate will come off and you’ll have access to the bottom side of the switches and the tabs you need to remove. It’s very simple and easy and takes like 10 minutes to do so don’t be scared to do it if you want to lol.

Best hack ever!
Are these photos of the driver's switch assy?
If so, only 3 wires to control everything, including mirrors?
Must be some digital logic going on inside.

I just can’t fathom why they did this. I can understand on the lower trims to “feature gate” the auto up/down for rear windows to maybe drive some package sales or upper trim sales, but why do this on the Raptor? Platinum? Etc..

AFAIK, there's no package that offer auto up/down on rear windows.
Might be some obscure safety reason.

Most likely because they have some risk if a child has access to that feature. If a childs hand got caught in a closing window there is a huge probability they'd be sued.
Again, 95% of lawyers and most parents are the biggest societal problems. They are always looking for ways to offload personal responsibility.

I don't believe that Ford offers one touch up/down rear windows in any model. Lincoln does though, so it's not a blanket prohibition across the corporation. Maybe that feature is a differentiator between Ford and Lincoln? Odd, if so.

*Edit* I may have spoken to soon. Sounds like the Maverick has them (or recently had) and I know the Bronco at least did at one time as well. It's just not obvious based on the order guides for current models.

They offer one touch in cars. Not trucks for some reason. I have them factory in my Fusion. Every F Series or ranger I've been in don't have it. As for someone's reason that some child will get caught it in is not true. I have the in channel window visors and sometimes when the window is being raised it with the key fob it will bounce back when it hits the visor on the rear. That's the one side I need to adjust.

@Gman10 was the term “Legend”?
Yes. Absolute fucking legend! Best hack ever indeed!
thanks for the confidence inspiring pics, I found it to be exactly as Gman10 said. My harbor freight trim tools did just fine to get the switch panel off.
i couldn’t get the switches themselves off the rocker posts, so I just hacked the stops with some small side cutters and a round bastard.
also, I put my life at risk to test the “auto stop/reverse/safety” function, I was sure had to the programmed….i don’t have kids, my rear window switches have been locked since day one, but my dog’s tail could get in there just the same….if you’re concerned, don’t be, it didn’t even break a bone!🤣😂

I’ve done a lot of free mods on jeeps back in the day, flipping the mirror to get a better view, drilling out parts of the side mirrors to drain water, all that jazz.

this QOL upgrade outdoes every single one in terms of simplicity and what it does. OP is a champ for finding this out

I used some snips and filed the spots flat. Less than five minutes.

Not a safety thing because Lincoln, Ford's other division, has auto up/down for the rear windows. We have a MKS and a family member has a Nautilus they both have auto up/down in the rear.

On the flip side my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon doesn't have auto jackshit front or back! I don't really care about not having auto down because with the pet door covers being held in place with these tabs that slide down in the window I don't ever roll the backs all the way down or they sometimes catch those tabs when you roll them back up but I've gotten used to the auto up in our car and when I'm in my truck or the Jeep and I flick the switch to roll them up and the window just sits there looking at me saying bro I ain't that kind of window it's a little annoying. 😏
