Radiator Upgrade

Has anyone swapped out their OE radiator with an upgraded all aluminum radiator? If so did it make any difference or did you still get the fans on at start up? If you did make the change which company did you buy from and what differences have you noticed?

I don't have a RR but I am curious. Are you having an issue with the stock cooling?

Fans at start up may be a result of the A/C and climate control. Turn the A/C off and see if it still does it.

Not a problem but the trucks run hot and when the fans kick in it sounds like a 737 about to take off (exaggeration). My truck was parked in the sun yesterday and when I remote started it the fans came on immediately and they could be heard across the parking lot. I know changing the radiator won't necessarily stop this from happening but I was curious if anyone had upgraded the radiator and what changes they had noticed.

I would think it would be the first mod given that the oil coolers are both water cooled. It’s tough to determine how much more effective they are based on each manufacturer’s bias. I think the CSF and PWR are most advanced, at least I see them most in the RacecarEngineering magazine.

I have not changed radiators and have not noticed my truck running hot... Is there a way to see the actual coolant temperature similar to being able to ready the engine oil and transmission fluid? Of course the coolant temp is on the left side of the selectable gauges, but most manufactures seem to have the coolant temp hold at an average location and the gauge typically goes up long after it really should have.

That's not the radiator. That's the air conditioner. It needs airflow to cool when stopped.

I remember reading a thread that you can add the numbers to the gauges using Forscan..

I swapped mine for a CSF Radiator. Temps didn't change, it's just but much better than stock!

I was gonna get one but decided to vent my hood first to see if that would work. It helped a lot and was cheaper. I towed a 7,500lb trailer ca-utah in 100 deg weather. Never had any heat issues with the a/c going.

That the aircon fan. It’s a super powerful fan - but the trade off is a super cold aircon. When remote starting the Ranger it automatically turns on the Aircon to cool/warm the cabin (which is the whole point of remote starting)

replacing the radiator isn’t going do anything besides waste your money

The quality upgrade is worth it imo. In our environment/heat, and offroading, plastic end tanks are no good.

Some that don't offroad their trucks won't see the benefits the same way. 1 rock to the wrong spot ends in a bad day lol

I just got back from the Ranger Raptor Assualt in Utah where it was 100 on the full day of putting the truck through all its capabilities. The trucks never ran hot. We ran the AC all day, even while sitting idle. The fan is for the AC and it functions very well and IMO, not that loud.

I was looking at the CSF as well for the exact reasons Goose mentioned, not for any additional cooling.

Hi, could you explain exactly how you vented the hood? Did you simply open up/cut out the factory hood vent slots, or did you also cut openings in the metal hood underneath the vents?

If you have any pictures of what you did, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!
