Preface: I have a 2.7 liter XLT

I have been tooling around in normal mode since I have owned my Ranger and generally haven't been switching modes at all.

I did use ECO for a small time when the gas prices were higher.

This past week, I guess I felt a little bit ornery, but I flipped into Sport mode for the first time.

Holy moly! Pushes you to the back of your seat fast! No hesitation and feels opened up!

I now keep thinking should I use it more? Is this a "Raptor Lite"?

Maybe this fall and winter I will be using more modes!

Just thought I would share.

Happy Labor Day!

The 2.7 is so quick that I rarely find the need to toss it in sport. It's fun, though. 😁

I've played with it some. Definitely a different personality and a little unhinged compared to normal mode.

Definitely a vroom vroom in Sport mode. If you think it's too much for daily driving, put it in Tow mode, split the difference between Sport and Normal.

It's great when there's multiple lanes and traffic worth trying to pass. A bit much for my typical commute, though. The way it hangs onto lower gears for so long, once up to speed, gets a little old.

I found almost difference in mpg between eco and sport mode and it no longer lugs along in 6th gear at 20 mph. Never go back to eco but I may try tow mode for a few days just to see how I like it

I actually like sport mode a lot, not for accelerating, but for stopping.

it reminds me me more of driving a manual transmission and using engine braking as sport mode downshifts earlier.

if you step on it in anynof the modes it moves out sharply.

I agree if you are driving 50-65 mph normal is better. At 72 there is no difference as everything is in 10th gear.

I used to think that sport mode would down shift too quickly at high way speeds but that doesn’t seem that way to me anymore. Either the transmission or I or both of us have learned to adapt.

You think thats fast You should try the ranger raptor with ford performance tune, 93 top tier fuel, and sport mode. Runs like A raped ape. The only thing that has took Me was an 1100 hp rivian and He didn't take Me by much.

I think that would spoil me.

One of those things that once you experience it, there is probably no going back.

I remember buying a my first flat panel tv. Everything was so much sharper and clearer I could not go back to the old picture tube. It was impossible to watch.

I thought the same, until I tried it.

It does chug down the fuel a bit more.

I now save it for weekend fun.
