 What a joke! Literally says "This truck is built to work, not impress on paper." And then proceeds to do literally no work, just circles around some cattle. No view ofthe engine or explanation of what makes it better, stole the Ranger's bed side steps, and left a very underwhelming interior. Yeah, Ford has it's problems and needs to get their heads out fo their asses on some issues, but this isn't anything to cause worry!

It’s also not even new. It’s on the same almost 2 decade old platform, just with an updated interior and uglier exterior panels. The Hilux is being left behind by even Chinese manufacturers.

I remember when Toyota Tacoma's were bullet proof, 40 years ago. I might have considered one this time around but with no flat tow capability and lack luster power and styling, I'll stick with my 2.7 Lariat.

Yep! I had a 2000 Tacoma. Too hard on my back and not enough power, so I picked up a 2005 Tundra. Coming from 2 Toyotas I was hoping the redesign of the Tacoma were steps in the right direction. Nope! Goofy, overemphasized nose, top engine is a 4 banger with batteries way slower than the V6 Rangers and shock absorbers in the seats (TRD Pro) eliminating the possibility of rear passengers! Only positive is the available 6' bed.

... wow that's some negative value content. lol. Definitely Ai aggregated slop.

fysa - the new hybrid TRD variant puts the batteries under the rear seat next to the 12v battery (so adiĂłs underseat storage) plus, the special sauce pneumatic seat hardware on the rear of the front seats hit's rear passengers knees.

Then there was the whole my25 warping plastics issue in hot climates ... so it's not all "perfect" over there in Toyota Land.

Ahhhhh yes! Nothing spells the Ranch & Herding Cattle like the Japanese Toyota. Seen it a 100X in the heart of America.
That’s their angle? Might as well have the corpse of Wyatt Earp sitting propped up in the bed holding Susan B. Anthony silver dollars & poker chips from the Stardust & Binions.
Stop it Toyota!

I liked my 2016 tacoma quite a bit, when it got to 245K on the meter, I initially planned to get a new one. Then I saw the gen 4 and cringed. It lost more favor when I realized that a v6 wasn’t an option. The read seat still had no leg room. The more I looked into them, the more the ranger made sense. Toyota has been riding their “reliability” reputation for too long and people are seeing it.

Last April (2025) I traded in my 2013 Tacoma V6 for a 2025 Ranger 2.3 XLT. My Tacoma only had 86k on it, but it was rusting out badly underneath. It had been recalled for frame rust and the dealership only sprayed some white foamy crap into some of the holes in the frame rails. Things like fender brackets and disc guards were already falling off.
My Ranger 2.3 feels like it has twice the power of the Tacoma’s V6 engine, and my Ranger is getting 24-27 MPG, while my Tacoma averaged 17 over it’s lifetime.
It was funny that when I brought my new Ranger back to the dealership 1 week after purchasing it (for an inspection sticker), I saw my old Tacoma - already sold and registered to a new owner! I suspect that o e of the dealership employees grabbed it up right away.
