I would hope that Ford can just turn around and say they can fix it before they sell it to you..
My thought is there's no telling where else salt has gotten stuck if the undercarriage looks anything but brand new. I don't wanna assume they fix it and my fenders start rotting out after i own it for a year.

Mine is the same, but only 57 miles at delivery. I think the axle and drive shaft were outside while the strike was going on maybe?

It's just hard to fathom that there is that much rust, even if sitting outside since January. Here in Ohio MOST people drive their cars through the winter - all winter - through the salt, slush and snow and are NOT washing them each time. The cars go 3-4 months during and after salt with no cleaning, each year, every year. My daily driver is 15 years old now and does not have that much rust on the bottom...

Re: Rust on new trucks
Another article from the F-150 Rust issue suggests that, if you get a JD Powers or other survey, to make sure you mention exterior condition if you see that amount of rust (maybe Ford will then take it seriously), while the dealership says it is normal. Still another suggested underbody treatment/protection.
Owners of the 2021 F-150 who receive the Initial Quality Study survey have an opportunity to make their voices heard, whether about rust or any other problems they’ve experienced. We’ll take the time to complete the survey if we get it and hope other owners do, too. Perhaps then Ford won’t see this type of rust as normal.

We all know our new Rangers probably were driven to an open field where they sat for a while. My Ranger had 60 miles on the odometer when I took possession of it. I checked underneath my truck today. My truck must have been driven on a snowy, salty road to wherever it was kept. Make sure you look under your trucks when they arrive at your dealership. I spent a chunk of my day today washing the underside of my Ranger to rid of the salty residue. There is some rust as a result of this. Here are a few of my pics.

Has anyone else experienced this?

The under carriage is brand new. The only pieces that are rusted are the driveshaft and rear axle. They must have been together sitting outside. Or old stock from old rangers if they are the same?

Yeah, I know mine moved to in prodution right around that big snow storm hit early in January. I've been worried a bit about this before I even scene the pics. It def seems excessive for the amount of time.

This post may break me. I ordered my truck May 26th, and between the delays and lack of transparency I have been unhappy (to put it mildly). Add on the fact that my truck has been sitting in a lot since January literally rotting away and I'm ready to throw in the towel.

Ford, I hope you're listening. Get your act together.

Honestly, the truck itself has no rust. It’s brand new. The only pieces with surface rust are the rear axle and drive shaft. They just have been outside for a while. Not that it’s acceptable, but it’s not the case that they ran these trucks through the salt and then loaded them up for sale.

not sure what you mean by "dated" interior in NIssan? Is it the lack of a large digital screen(s) for controlling everything like being at home at your gamer station? That huge vertical screen in 6G Ranger was very off putting and useless to me. Compare a Frontier SV with Technology and Convenience packages and bang for your buck before rejecting based on 1st impression of the cabin.
Or check payload and towing. TFL evaluated a Nissan and Ranger with identical msrp and the Nissan had “just over 1000lbs” payload. My “gamer station” at home has better payload.

those guys are FOS. My 2024 King Cab SV 2WD has standard towing capacity of 6670lbs. (lowest model S trim is 50lbs higher) and payload of 1610 lbs. (lowest max payload any trim is 1230 lbs. in ProX Crew Cab 4x4) All trims come standard with sway control and the SV with Convenience package comes with the 7/4 pin hitch all wired in place and tow/haul switch in the dash already.
My MSRP was $32,740 and with options added $37,760 + flat $399 for doc, handling fees, etc.

Hmmm...
I have a 2015 Ford Edge SEL and live in Wisconsin... We do not see rusted fasteners. Would Ford use a mix of plated and non-plated fasteners in the assembly process? This is not the 70's or 80's! I don't believe they would...

But when my XLT is delivered next week, I will inspect the under carriage!

I often think about those pictures of all the rangers in that lot from months and months ago. Makes me wonder if they built most of the orders and let them sit, then run them through the blend dates and production statuses, but they were already done and sitting out there.
But what do I know. I’m definitely no conspiracy theorists ?
Yes, I saw those same photos! There has to be something you can do. I would go back to the dealer or call Ford Corporation, try to get some sort of transparency, if there’s anything that should, or can be done. No one should be taking delivery of something like this, in this condition, with all the money we’re putting out for these trucks. I’m positive you’re not the only person to take delivery of a unit like this. They just haven’t looked underneath yet?! Not good Brother
