I disabled it on mine because I don’t like the short delay in restarting the engine when I need to go. If someone else likes it, fine, keep it.

But I don't think it should be forced on us without a permanent way to disable it for free. We should have that choice ourselves and not have it forced upon us by government regulation.

And I’ll stop here before I get into politics…

As a whole, I definitely support start/stop systems. It makes sense from an emissions perspective. Where it doesn't make sense is on vehicles with 12v starters that aren't made it.

* Start/stop on my Subaru Forester? Complete jarring experience upon start, and HVAC stopping.
* On my Volvo? seamless. The powertrain is ready to go in milliseconds.

Ranger falls somewhere in between. It's a nuisance because it lacks a 48v starter and mild hybrid system. If it did, I wouldn't look at options to defeat it.
Agreed. On my Outback Wilderness the entire car would jar heavily when it started up. It was maddening. I honestly hardly notice in the Ranger. It's getting more annoying now that it's warming up and HVAC goes out.

I think it's important to understand that this does not mean the elimination of Auto Start/Stop. It just means the US government will not require it, but California certainly will, at least until their EPA waiver is addressed, which de facto means every car will still have it. Also automakers are going to take their time removing it because if there is a change of party in the White House in 2029, they know that requirement is coming right back. It also won't have any effect on cars already on the road. Automakers aren't going to willingly spend money updating their cars to disable the feature.

I figure car makers will make it a option which they can charge for. It will just be turned off in software unless manufacturers go max saving. In that case they will remove chips needed for it.

you would think they would take it out of the new cars since its saves money to remove it. less parts to install, less wires to run, less programing.

The start/stop thing doesn’t bother me;
During normal driving it doesn't bother me too much, but it bothers me when I park my truck. I pull into my garage and stop, the truck shuts off, I put the truck in park and it starts back up and then I have to shut it off again.

Yes correct, the EPA is proposing to eliminate the current incentives (fuel economy credits) given to automakers that incorporate it. Also, the EPA never mandated start-stop technology the car companies were rewarded for its inclusion, so without the 'payoff' hopefully they remove this annoyance.

The only annoying part to me is the lack of ability for the system to remember your setting if you turn it off.
Driving in "Sport Mode" disables it. The next time you start the truck it will ask you "Do you want to return to Sport Mode" and press OK on the steering wheel.

I understand it's not exactly what you're looking for, but it's the closest thing next to disabling with FORScan.

You can't disable autostart/stop in forscan. We have all been trying to figure it out

I had that happen to me once. It was so stupid I laughed.
