Paint chipping above the tail light

I looked at a couple of new Ranger Raptors on my dealers lot and here's the picture of them, no paint chip. I took mine in and had them look at it. They took some pictures and they're sending them to Ford to see what they're gonna do about it. We shall see....

Just checked my 2026 (with less than 500 miles on it)... apparently Ford has done nothing to fix this issue

Being a Ford guy back to my '91 fox body, this in infuriating that this is still an issue. It just shows that Ford don't give too F%$! about the product they put out. This issue has been on going since the RR was introduced in '24. Unfortunately, from what I have observed in the Ranger, fit/finish quality is subpar, especially the Raptor version for some reason. When looking for my RR I only saw (1) normal ranger that had the tail light issue, just about every RR had this issue.

I am just as guilty as everyone else, however until we stop buying their sh@! we are the one's who will suffer. It's a shame, because it is awesome truck.

To add further, I was so excited when I found one without the tail light issue and good paint job, I missed (3) outward dents on my passenger side and stained front bumper (Thought it was tire dressing) that does not come off. Well at least my tail light is not an issue.

While doing my tailgate seal yesterday I noticed that the gaps with the tailgate were inconsistent, and the body panels on the driver and passenger side have different angles. Pretty piss-poor QC, and amazing that this has been going on for over 2 years and Ford hasn't fixed their manufacturing. Seems like a jig thing to me

My 2025 is really clear of any chipping around both rear lights.

I didn't think I had the issue... But...Today I removed the taillights to remove the bed rails, there it is.
I took a sharp file and dressed the edges of both taillights so they don't rub.

Drivers side and same chip. Knowing my local dealer there's not a chance they will cover this. I had to drive 1.5 hrs away just to find a dealership worth talking to and that's where I bought mine.

While I had my Ranger Raptor in for something else, I had them ask Ford about our paint chips (my wife's and mine RR,s both have it). This was like the third or fourth time we brought it up to our dealer when we had them in for service. So Ford did agree to fix the paint chips this time. The only problem is, Ford will send it to a body shop to fix it, and body shops do not fix paint chips. They will paint the whole Fender. I don't want that. I had my wife's ranger paint chip fixed at a coatings place where they put ceramic and PPG (or whatever it's called) coatings on vehicles. They know how to do touch up paint chips better than any paint shop. That's where Im taking mine to get it fixed.

Adding another to the thread and have become a follower now. Mine’s a 2024 RR. I’ve actually had this tailight replaced under warranty as it had standing water in it after a pretty awful storm. This is when I originally found the chip. Fun fact, these taillights are allegedly over $2k per side retail thanks to the BLIS system.

After reading about this issue here some time ago, I checked mine. Mine was touching but not chipped.
I filed off a little bit of the plastic to make clearance. Potential problem solved.

					I would like to take a closer look at your paint concerns. Can you please send over a message with your VIN and estimated mileage so I can start looking into this on my end? Good Evening, Ford. Do you plan on fixing this issue at the plant during manufacturing? Im look at buy my first ever Ford and possibly a Ranger Raptor. And every new Ranger Raptor on the lot has this paint chip issue on the driver tail light. Also a few had panel gap issues as well as interior trim not even snapped together. It appears this issue has been present since 2024. Any thoughts or feedback?

Had many of both.
30+ years ago Toyota wins hands down.
Today I won't own one, their problems are far bigger than a paint chip.
But that's just me.
