Tri-coat paints always cost more as material costs for the paint are higher. Most manufacturers charge more for these. Cyber orange cost more on the Broncos because of this.

only reason I could think of. So Moto’s answer makes sense, hadn’t thought of additional costs. I just like the color.

Except AGM costs twice as much as CO or HPR, which are also tri-coats, so who knows.

That's why I think it's the unicorn thing. 🦄

AGM is a Tri-coat, which requires more time and labor.

Also, one of the coats contains dried unicorn farts. So there’s that.
Never underestimate the price of dried unicorn farts. :bandit:

Yes, I was wondering if it was the process and material cost. I know for the red colors the pigment is more expensive.

I forgot where I saw/read/heard this, but the tri-coat paint is applied in layers (each layer being a different color) which gives it depth. I think it was on a dealer's YouTube video explaining it.

Yes, it's 'free' an on $57K truck, not at $32K truck.
Weird, my 24 Ranger Lariat is costing me $52k & still have to pay extra for the AGM...where do I get this $20k discount :)

Tri-Coat is just an extra layer of paint. Instead of Primer, Base, Clear it’s Primer, Base, Mid, Clear. That mid coat can have adders like pearl or flake. It’s an extra whole pass and drying cycle in the plant.

I ordered HPR which is the same process and I am coming from a Ruby Red Metallic Ex that’s also a tri-coat. Similar to the old Mystic Purple that was on the Cobra a couple decades back, it changes its hue depending on angle and lighting. My Ruby Red looks metallic red in the garage but under sunlight, it looks like a gemstone. They’re really hard to touch up so bear that in mind if you’re planning on using yours off road often.

I don’t find AGM to be all that attractive. The Bronco guys call it Area 52 because it’s so close to the flatter Area 51 color.

That's an excellent point about trying to match it or touch it up. Thanks. Will consider the Cactus Grey for off roading. Supposedly the lighter colors hide the scratches better.

I really like it. 1000$ was worth it to me. But yeah, it made my expensive order even more so for sure.
